The Sacred Hearts Welcome you!

SS.CC. USA WEST

Welcome to The Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary and of Perpetual Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Altar Secular Branch web page. Your site for information on the Sacred Hearts spirituality and ministries.

 WELCOME!

We are a group of laity joined with the brothers and sisters of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary and of Perpetual Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Altar.

H I S T O R Y

The Congregation owas founded in the year 1800 A.D. and approved by the Holy See in the papal bull Sub Plumbo(Pastor Aeternus) in 1817 by Pope Pius VII.  This Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary and of Perpetual Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Altar had co-founders in Father Pierre Coudrin, known as the Good Father (Bon Pere) and Henriette Aymer de la Chevalerie known as the Good Mother (Bonne Mere).

The foundation (Congregation) designated by the initials SS.CC. (Sacre Couer, Sacre Couer) had an active lay community at the beginning.  The present affiliation of belonging to the SS.CC. can be traced back to these historical beginnings and there are many varied ways to belong to the SS.CC. and each degree of belonging has its responsibilities and obligations attached to it, depending on the personal commitment.

There are brothers and sisters who profess vows and live a committed religious life.  These brothers and sisters would undergo formation and then they make public profession and commitment to the SS.CC.  This process sanctioned by the lawful canonical authority within the Order makes them official members of the Congregation.  These commitments are life commitments and the professed are called Religious of the Sacred Hearts.

The Secular Branch of the Congregation is comprised of lay people in good standing in their faith who enter into a formation program and make continuous renewed commitments.  There is a similar way of belonging to the Congregation which is entitled "The Association of the Sacred Hearts."  The asociate is an integral part, as are the Secular Branch members of the Congregation of teh Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, in origin, purpose and spirit.  It is an extension to the people living in the world and also a response to Vatical II's emphasis on the lay person.

The Congregation, with its professed members, its Secular Branch members and its Associate members form a single spiritual family.  In this sense all of them are called to live the "Charism" of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary and of Perpetual Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Altar.  The lay members of the Christian faithful are to esteem greatly the association established for the spiritual purpose of groth and especially those which propose to animate the temporal order with the Christian Spirit.  Basically, the SS.CC. charism is an essential condition for belonging to the SS.CC.

The Secular Branch of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary is a group of lay people attracted, if not impelled to the love of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, the charism.  As the third branch of this congregation, the Secular Branch receives formation classes from the religious brothers and sisters.  Members commit themselves to live the mission--a lifelong commitment together--that is renewed each year. The Charism belongs to all family members and we belong to one another. Interdependence and excitement is at the core.  We are called to re-enflesh the Hearts of Jesus and Mary.  Secular Branch members are co-responsible with the Religious.  Secular Branch is an extension of the Congregation.  We must be in communion with each other.  We can all work together in our ministry and mission.  Today we want to thank you for your interest and participation in our efforts to realize a  property where we can build a seminary for vocations, retirement home for priest and a Secular Branch Center to revive the Enthronement of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the Home and other ministries of which all are tirelessly working (brothers and sisters).   A central point for all to work together for God’s people.   May the  love of  the Sacred Hearts  bless you abundantly and may you live your lives abundantly each day!

Ezekiel 17:22

Therefore say: Thus says the Lord GOD: I, too, will take from the crest of the cedar, from its topmost branches tear off a tender shoot, And plant it on a high and lofty mountain; on the mountain heights of Israel I will plant it. It shall put forth branches and bear fruit, and become a majestic cedar. Birds of every kind shall dwell beneath it, every winged thing in the shade of its boughs.

And all the trees of the field shall know that I, the LORD, Bring low the high tree, lift high the lowly tree, Wither up the green tree, and make the withered tree bloom. As I, the LORD, have spoken, so will I do.

The Lord, as always, keeps His Word.  He expanded our territories and is continuing to expand them as time goes by.  I only have words of praise and encouragement to our SB members.  The Community Leaders at each area are responsible for the growth at each of their sectors.

"Remember, may all that has breath praise The Lord!"  Psalm 150

The Salve Regina
